As well as being an artist, Kay is also a surface pattern designer at Kay Julie Designs.

Inspired by her native and adopted countries and cultures, Kay creates striking surface patterns inspired by English country gardens, Scandinavian folk art and design, and the beauty of the natural world.  

Her fine art practice also influences her surface pattern design process: several of her designs are made from her abstract paintings and collages, creating colourful and intricate patterns.
